TOWN WELL BEATEN AWAY IN THE FOREST Posted on: Saturday 6th March 2010 The Robins recorded their biggest defeat of the season in all competitions with a 4-0 defeat away at North Leigh.  The game saw Frome create very little in the way of chances and the hosts could have notched more in a game that Frome will want to forget in a hurry. CLUB TO LAUNCH OWN YOUTH SECTION Posted on: Friday 5th March 2010 Frome Town Football Club is delighted to announce that they are to launch a youth section for the forthcoming season. This is the next step towards gaining FA Community Club status and will be available to anybody that wants to play or to be involved in football. Gary Collinson, Community Development Officer said “We believe it is time to bring youth football in Frome together for the benefit of everybody as we suffer currently from a chronic lack of facilities in the area. Community Club status, with the backing of the Somerset FA, will enable us to push for training facilities, match pitches and changing rooms that are currently not available. It is not acceptable for youngsters to be unable to change, or use toilets where they are expected to play football. Our vision is for youngsters of all ages and abilities to be able to represent their Town, and play at their appropriate level and to this end we are inviting all the existing youth football clubs to become part of this scheme. We are also keen to support and encourage coaches to achieve their potential and there will be lots of opportunities to get involved” A Youth Development team has been put in place to move things forward and the club are to hold an open meeting at Frome Town Football Club on Saturday 20th March at 1pm. Attendees are welcome to stay and enjoy the first team game against Bedfont Green after the game free of charge. There will be a short presentation regarding the proposals, and some time for questions and answers. Anybody with an interest is welcome to attend whether they are players, parents or coaches. In the meantime if you have any questions please email gary@frometownfc.co.uk who will be happy to answer where possible, or pass on to the appropriate person for response.
