Abingdon 0 Frome Town 5 Hulbert  (6), (45), (46), (63) D Thompson (60) Crowd:102 Man of the Match: Ricky Hulbert After Wednesday night's very creditable draw with league leaders Windsor and Eton, Frome Town continued their good form and produced a thoroughly impressive away performance to come away from Abingdon with a comprehensive 5-0 win thanks to four goal striker Ricky Hulbert. Manager Darren Perrin included new signing Jack Winter at left back to start the match, but was without the services of Ben Thomson and Craig Fullam who both picked up injuries in the midweek match. Frome showed their intentions right from the start, and in the 6th minute, only brave goalkeeping from Beames denied Perrott after an excellent run through from midfield. However, Frome took the lead two minutes later as Salter broke clear, cut inside, beat two defenders and let loose a shot that Beames was only able to parry, and Hulbert scored easily from 6 yards out. As the match settled, the midfields started to cancel each other out and chances were few and far between, however Hulbert was unlucky in the 44th minute as Peters won the ball brilliantly in midfield and produced the perfect through ball to Hulbert who then watched his 20 yard shot hit the far post and rebound to safety. However, the pair repeated the move one minute later, and this time Hulbert beat Beames to the ball, pushed it round him and slotted the ball into the net from 12 yards, with Beames being booked for clattering into the scorer as he attempted to recover the situation. At half time, Clarke replaced Peters (suspected broken foot), and the third goal came almost  straight from the restart. An Osman free kick was played into the Abingdon penalty area, Cheeseman went up for the ball and his presence unsettled Beames, who missed his clearance punch and Hulbert was able to head home from close range to complete his hat trick. Hulbert was on fire now, and in the 50th minute he latched onto a poor clearance, chipped the keeper and watched the ball hit the crossbar and rebound to safety, and two minutes later, he again caused problems as he let rip a shot that just missed the far post. Frome made it 4-0 in the 60th minute as an Osman corner was not cleared, Cheeseman latched onto the ball, played it back to Osman who crossed again, the ball was only partially  cleared and substitute Dave Thompson drilled the ball low and hard into the net from 20 yards out for his first goal for the Club. The 63rd minute saw Hulbert score his fourth goal as he latched onto a ball played into his path by Allison from the left wing and scored from close range to make it 5-0 to Frome. Allison also went close in the 66th minute with a 30 yard effort that just skimmed the bar, but with Frome now coasting, totally in control and no doubt with their thoughts on the visit of AFC Totton on Wednesday night, there were few other incidents in the match. Ricky Hulbert was awarded the man of the match award for an outstanding performance that produced four goals, and it has been a long time since any Frome player scored that many goals in a competitive match.
