Match Reports Season 2010 / 11 Tuesday October 19th 2010 Andover Away Tue 19th October 2010 Zamaretto Southern League Division 1 (SW) Andover 0 Frome Town 3 Frome Scorers: Cheeseman (4), Evans (52), Smith (84) Andover Scorers: None Crowd:102 Entertainment Value: 4 Star Man: Darren White After the narrow defeat at Evesham in the FA Trophy, Frome Town resumed league matches as they travelled to bottom club Andover and completely dominated the match, eventually winning 3-0 but the margin of victory could well have been a lot larger. On a cool night, on an excellent pitch recently re-turfed after rabbit damage, and  with manager Darren Perrin prowling the sidelines due to suspension, Frome came hurtling out of the blocks and laid siege to the Andover goal in the first five minutes. Thomson started things off with a sizzling 20 yard shot after 30 seconds that thumped into Barnett's midriff, a long Brigham throw in the 3rd minute was headed on by Perrett and White's close range header again found the arms of Barnett, but the inevitable happened in the 4th minute as a long Lapham free kick found Cheeseman racing forward and from an unmarked position just inside the box he rose and headed cleanly home to give Frome the lead they richly deserved. With the home manager going ballistic in the dugout ( or rabbit hutch as a wag referred to it), Andover managed to settle to the game and Brigham was called into action in the 11th minute to bravely block a shot that threatened the Frome goal after an Andover breakaway, but normal service was soon resumed and the 19th minute saw Barnett deal well with a low 25 yard swerving shot from Brigham. The 20th minute saw Flockton turn and head a corner just over the bar from 5 yards out, and White hit the outside of the post in the 24th minute after Perrott flicked on a long Brigham throw. Perrett chased a poor back pass in the 26th minute but Barnett again did well to save with his legs in a position 5 yards outside of his own area, indeed Barnett was spending a lot of time outside of the penalty area and resembled a sweeper for much of the first half. Frome again had the ball in the net in the 30th minute after a corner had been cleared off the line, but this time Cheeseman was denied his second goal of the night by an offside flag, and the 35th minute again saw Barnett save well as he dived low to his left to just cling onto an Evans drive that was heading for the corner of the goal.  At half time, Frome should have been home and dry, and they started the second half determined to press home the advantage. The 47th minute saw the impressive Thomson beat his full back, cut inside the box and slide a perfect low ball across the area to White, but he completely missed his kick and the chance went begging. Five minutes later and White turned provider as he accelerated past a defender, cut into the box and pulled the ball back perfectly for Evans stroked the ball cleanly into the net from 10 yards to give Frome a 2-0 lead and a scoreline that more reflected the match. The 59th minute almost produced a classic goal as Thomson skinned his full back, his cross found the head of Perrott whose cushioned header allowed White an overhead kick that required Barnett to save well to deny the striker his goal. The chances kept coming and Evans went close in the 65th minute, White went close two minutes later and Peters produced a 25 yard screamer that just cleared the bar a minute later, but Frome eventually made it 3-0 in the 84th minute as Lake had a second chance to cross, and produced a superb swerving cross hit with pace that just begged for a forward to get on the end of it. Perrott obliged, and his flicked header found Smith who drove the ball cleanly home from 15 yards to make the result certain. The final whistle blew just after Cheeseman went very close from a corner, and Frome came away with all three points after a very good, very sharp performance that bodes well for the visit of Wimborne on Saturday. Darren White was chosen as Man of the Match for an excellent performance, full of pace, movement and invention.
