Frome Town virtually ensured their place in the end of season play offs with a comfortable 3-0 home win over an Andover side that fought hard the whole match, but never really looked like troubling the home defence. On a gloriously sunny day, the home crowd were pleased to see captain and legend Jamie Cheeseman in the crowd and looking fit and well and hoping to play a part in the important end of season matches. The match kicked off and within 15 seconds Frome had announced their intentions and Ballinger brought a save from Barnett in the visitor's goal. Frome took the lead in only the 2nd minute, as a Thomson free kick on the right wing was floated in perfectly and full back Josh Brigham rose unchallenged to head home from 10 yards and immediately settle any nerves about a shock result. Still smarting from their 9-0 defeat at Totton during week, as the the match settled,  the Andover defence were determined that Frome weren't going to repeat the feat, and although Frome always looked in charge during the first half, chances were few and far between, with most of the match taking place in the midfield. Frome made it 2-0 in the 30th minute in slightly bizarre fashion as Brigham produced a long, flat throw in from the right wing that allowed Perrott (with his back to goal) to head the ball up and over his head, resulting in the ball looping  up in the air and falling perfectly just under the cross bar into the net, with Barnett struggling to get back to tip the ball over the bar. Frome were now making most of the running, but Andover went close in the 35th minute as a powerful Calder header from a free kick sailed past the Frome post. Frome had a third goal disallowed in the 39th minute as Barnett parried a Ballinger shot straight to White who tapped the ball in from close range, only for linesman's flag to disallow the goal. The second half was very similar to the first, with Frome coasting, Andover working hard to defend, and home keeper Tom Pass a virtual spectator. Frome's first real chance came in the 67th minute as Perrott broke through and thundered a volley over the bar, and substitute Chris Lewis had a very good chance in the 75th minute as a perfect Hulbert cross from deep on the right allowed him an unmarked header, but the ball flew over the bar. Andover's Ian Calder was shown a second yellow in the 80th minute, and three minutes later Frome sealed the match as a left wing corner was flicked on by Lewis at the near post. Barnett punched the ball clear, but Smith perfectly clipped the ball back in from the right and Thomson headed cleanly home from 10 yards out. Frome's Josh Brigham was chosen as man of the match and received the customary bottle of bubbly from Frome's long range supporters club, known, amongst other things, as the "Cornish Contingent".      Frome Town Andover Officials Andrew Darnton Claudio Herbert Luke Soulby Andy Leader B Abrams A Fricker N Sykes Josh Barnett Mark Keogh Curtis Angell Martin Harris Ian Calder Craig Davis Chris Onoufriou Danny Field Chris Bookman Lee Bowen Craig Blakeman Match Sponsors The “Cornish Contingent” Match Ball Trevor Stacey Mascots Sonny and Findlay Thompson
