After four successive draws, Frome battled to an important win from their long midweek trip to the West Midlands. On a flat but sticky surface the home side could easily have suffered a first minute red card for an horrendous challenge but got away with a yellow.  Thereafter both sides provided a lively start with Frome's Dean Evans netting a flick-on after 12 minutes but was adjudged to be offside. After repelling Stourport attacks, Mike Perrott's 20th minute header was superbly turned over the bar by the home 'keeper and Chris Lewis' shot past the post just three minutes later. Stourports best chance of the first half came in the last minute as visiting 'keeper Darren Chitty parried a close range effort for a corner. The second half started well with Perrott again being denied by Stourports goalkeeper while at the other end, Chitty did well to turn aside a free-kick and then, on the hour mark, superbly turned a close range shot around the post. A flurry of Frome corners saw an Evans header come back off the crossbar while on 73 minutes Chitty bravely blocked a Stourport attack with Dean Flockton clearing the rebound.  Unfortunatley Chitty's bravery led to a leg injury and he had to leave the field with Perrott taking over in goal and the returning Matt Smith took his place in midfield. Obviously an ominous time for the away side but substitute Darren White got away down the left, Ben Thomson's effort was saved only for Luke Ballinger to blast home a shot off the 'keeper. With Stourport pressing for an equaliser on 87 minutes Ballinger evaded a defender and his cross found it's way to Smith whose shot was low and put Frome 2-0 ahead. Frome's followers were well pleased with the side's efforts but were glad to hear the final whistle after a 95th minute shot into the top corner had given Stourport some consolation.
