Match Reports Season 2010 / 11 Saturday October 24th 2010 Wimborne Home Saturday 23rd Octobrer 2010 Zamaretto Southern League Div 1 (SW) Frome Town 3 Wimborne 1 Frome Scorers:Cheeseman (38), Etheridge (48), Peters (73) Wimborne Scorers: Chudy (42) Crowd: 216 Entertainment Value: 4 Star Man: Matt Peters Frome Town's recent good run of form continued as they produced an excellent performance to defeat a good Wimborne side by three goals to one. Manager Darren Perrin kept the same side as the one that had won at Andover during the week, with the exception of Max Etheridge returning as centre forward in place of Darren White, and the match started in a very even manner with both sides playing good controlled football, but neither making chances in front of goal. After a quarter of an hour, the heavens opened, and Lapham brought the first save of the match from Walker Harris as he sidestepped a challenge on the edge of the area and drove a low shot towards the visitors goal. Thomson produced almost a carbon copy attempt three minutes later and an Evans shot was only just cleared for a corner two minutes later. At this point it seemed that Frome were getting on top, but Wimborne came back and went close in the 29th minute and a brave Flockton block denied Green in the 32nd minute. The opening goal came in the 38th  minute as Cheeseman rose to meet a corner, headed the ball downwards and with Evans rushing in to meet the ball, he failed to get a touch but succeeded in unsettling the goalkeeper and the ball squirmed low into the net to give Frome a 1-0 lead. Wimborne equalised four minutes later as Flockton fouled five yards outside his penalty area and Chudy scored direct from the free kick with a swerving left foot shot that deceived Chitty and buried itself in the far corner of the net. At half time and with the scores level, it was all to play for, and Frome started the quicker of the two sides as Etheridge just failed to connect with a Perrott through ball on 47 minutes, but he was set free by Thomson one minute later and found himself with in a "one on one" situation with Walker Harris, the goalkeeper going to ground and getting a hand to the shot, but only succeeding in deflecting the ball into the corner of the net to give Frome a 2-1 lead. The game now swung from end to end and either side looked capable of scoring. White replaced Etheridge in the 71st minute and two minutes later he combined well with Lake on the left wing, resulting in a cross that found Peters ghosting into the box from the right wing. His first touch pushed the ball round a defender and his second resulted in a low left foot shot that unerringly found the back of the net to give Frome a 3-1 lead. Frome now started to get the upper hand slightly, and moves down the left resulted in half chances for Thomson, Peters and Perrott, but Wimborne still looked dangerous and in the 82nd minute Brigham cleared well with a slide tackle that brought claims for a penalty, but the ball had been played. The 91st minute brought howls of protest from the home fans as White was clattered from behind by Wimborne's Paul Roast leaving him in need of treatment, the referee producing a yellow card for the offence, and shortly afterwards the final whistle blew with the team being applauded off the field by the good crowd of 216. Matt Peters was chosen as Man of the Match by Graham Barnes who had sponsored the match, and the mascots were Graham's grandsons Ben Griffiths and Tom Franks..
