With Dean Flockton suspended and Tome Evans unavailable through illness, manager Darren Perrin shuffled the pack with Mike Reaney and Ryan Bennett playing in the centre of the defence, and they had to be alert in the 3rd minute as Joel Mason and Dean Sinclair put together a move that was only just cleared by Alex Lapham at the last moment. Frome had the ball in the net in the 11th minute as Lapham found Jake Harris and his perfect cross resulted in a Luke Ballinger header being smashed home by Dean Evans, but the goal was ruled out for offside. With both sides looking good going forward, it was turning into an entertaining game, and and Frome pressure in the 24th minute resulted in a several half chances but no end result, Lapham produced a great 25 yard effort in the 33rd minute that saw a stunning save by Mark Osborn in the home goal, and the game was soured in the 37th minute as Harris was chopped down and then spat at by David Perpetuni, resulting in a straight red for the home defender and a yellow for Josh Brigham as he got involved in the aftermath, and also managed to head the ball just wide at the near post from the resulting free kick. Frome went close in the 40th minute as a Lapham header from an Evans cross was just cleared off the line, but two minutes later they deservedly took the lead as Harris was on hand to head a Brigham deep cross over Osborn from 8 yards out. The goal really set the match on fire, and Evans just failed to get a touch to a low Ballinger cross a minute later, but then Reaney was forced to make a last ditch tackle on Chris Marsh, and then in injury time, Marsh went close again as he was set up by Ashton Goss but a deflection took his shot over the bar. Despite their disadvantage in numbers, Arlesey threw everything at Frome in the opening stages of the first half, but disciplined defending kept chances to a minimum and in fact Frome almost increased their lead in the 67th minute as Harris cut inside and shot, but was denied by a low save from Osborn.  Dean Sinclair missed a near post equaliser in the 75th minute as he got onto the end of a Dave Deeney cross, and then after Ricky Hulbert shot straight at Osborn when through on goal,  Arlesey missed a golden chance in the 88th minute as the unmarked Joel Mason volleyed high over the bar when he had so many options, and then a minute later Darren Chitty had to arch backwards to tip a looping header over the bar. With the frenetic last few minutes coming to a close, Frome had the last chance of the match as they broke clear, but Hulbert’s shot was blocked and Shaun Benison put the rebound over the bar, and the whistle blew shortly afterwards to give Frome a much needed 3 points and a big confidence boost. Mike Reaney was awarded the man of the match award for an excellent performance at the heart of the defence.
