Frome started brightly and Liam Castle was soon called into action as some good link up play between Frome’s Mike Perrot and Matt Smith resulted in Smith’s shot saved well to the keepers left. Frome nearly took the lead on 11 minutes when a ball in the box was dropped by Castle and fell to Perrot whose strike was denied by the on-rushing keeper Barwell then started to dominate playand this eventually paid off after 15 minutes when a delicate pass from Jai Stanley fed Julien inside the area and his fierce left footed shot rebounded off the post and into the net giving Darren Chitty no chance. Barwell  didn’t have to wait long for their second. Only a minute later Luke Barlone broke clear of the defence before playing it square to Towers who kept his cool and slotted it past Chitty. Towers was a constant threat and his squared ball to Julien on 19 minutes was drilled wide on the edge of the box. Frome were looking to find a way back into the game, pumping balls forward however Barwell’s defence stood firm with the towering figure of Liam Daly winning the majority of the headers. The visitors enjoyed a rare 5 minute spell but only had half chances to feed off when Ben Thomson fired over from 18 yards. Just as Frome had found their feet after conceding two, Barwell increased their advantage on 30 minutes. A brilliantly team worked goal consisted of Julien playing the ball down the line to Barlone who used his pace to beat the fullback and played a perfect ball across the goal for Towers to stretch and knock in his second and Barwell’s third. From there it was going to be an uphill battle for Frome to claim anything out of the game, but they went close shortly afterwards as  Thomson played the ball to Matt Smith whose shot inched past the right post. Thompson won a corner for Frome on 43 minutes which was flicked across goal by Smith only for Daly to head the ball clear, but the pressure paid off shortly afterwards as the ball broke across the box and was met by the right boot of Luke Ballinger on the half volley to smash it in the top right corner of the net. Frome looked rejuvenated in the second half thanks to their goal at the end of the first half and started the brighter of the two sides. A half-chance fell for Lapham who put the ball harmlessly wide after 46 minutes. The 51st minute saw Frome  awarded a penalty after Matt Smith  was brought down by Daly. The referee had no hesitation to point to the spot however Frome Captain, Josh Brigham stepped up and saw his spot kick parried by Castle into the path of on-rushing Ricky Hulbert who scuffed his shot wide. It was a big let off for Barwell who continued with their 2 goal advantage but Frome were building momentum and had another chance only for Perrot to blaze over. Frome had a great chance to pull one back after 61 minutes. Thompson found space down the right, played it across the box to Hulbert and striker Perrot again squandered the chance. With the home side conceding possession too easily in the remaining 15 minutes of the game,  Frome were able to gather the ball and apply pressure on the home side, and some late pressure  made the game a little nervy for home side, but when Matt Smith headed over from 6 yards and Dean Flockton had a header just tipped over the bar, the home side held on for a well deserved victory. Mike Perrott was awarded the man of the match award.
