Saturday  April 21st  2012 Chesham Utd Away Saturday April 21st 2012 Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Chesham Utd. 2 Frome Town 0 Frome Scorers: None Chesham Scorers: Potton (12), Watters (30) Crowd: 439 Entertainment Value: 3 Star Man: Chris Allen With a depleted squad, Frome Town produced a good performance at second placed Chesham, but after going down to ten men early in the second half, the 2-0 deficit at half time proved too much to recover from. Making their last away trip of the season, Frome visited play off chasing Chesham United with a vastly depleted squad, with Mike Perrott the latest to add to the list following a hamstring strain last week. With Tom Evans unable to take his place on the bench, coaches Mike Kilgour and Lloyd Chamberlain made up two of the substitutes, with 16 year old Jamie Broome from Melksham completing the bench. After a bright start from the visitors, Josh Brigham set up a chance for Luke Ballinger in the 1st minute, but his shot from 25 yards went well wide, then Darren Chitty had to be alert to deal with a weak back header that Simon Thomas came close to winning. The 10th minute saw Frome go close as a Brigham throw was flicked on by Matt Smith allowing Ballinger a close range effort that was blocked. Chesham took the lead in the 12th minute as the unmarked James Potton headed home from a corner, and shortly after, Frome were lucky to survive as Ryan Bennett appeared to handle a right wing cross from Chris Watters, but the referee saw nothing, much to the anguish of the home crowd. Chris Allen spurned a 12 yard shooting opportunity in the 25th minute after a long Brigham throw wasn’t cleared, but then Chesham increased their lead on 30 minutes as Potton unselfishly pulled the ball back across the goal to give Chris Watters an easy tap in for a 2-0 lead. Matt Smith was clattered by Shane Gore in the 32nd minute as he tried to lob the home keeper, but again the referee waved play on and with nothing else of note happening, the score remained at 2-0 to the hosts at half time. Matt Smith flicked a header straight at Shane Gore in the 52nd minute, but two minutes later Frome had a mountain to climb as Josh Brigham was shown a somewhat harsh straight red for a strong challenge. Potton could have increased the lead for Chesham in the 60th minute as he evaded several tackles, but then shot well over the bar from just inside the box, and after Mike Perrott somehow managed to pick up a booking before even coming on as substitute, Darren Chitty produced an outstanding save to deny Dave Fotheringham in the 69th. An excellent Frome move in the 74th minute allowed Smith a clean shot on goal but Gore saved well and the match eventually ended in a comfortable win for the hosts, but it was a good performance from Frome as they finished the match with 10 men, Perrott nursing an injury and coach Mike Kilgour playing for the last few minutes.   Frome Town Chesham Shane Gore John Kyriacou Bruce Wilson Mark Lambert Danny Gudgeon Danny Talbot Dave Fotheringham Steve Wales James Potton Simon Thomas Chris Watters Leon Archer Anthony Watson Josh Cooper Brad Wadkins Scott Thomas Officials xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx Match Photos Photos of this match taken by our expert photographer Chas Hadfield can be viewed by clicking on this rectangle Match Sponsor xxxxx Ball Sponsor xxxxxx
