Playing against the stiff wind in the first half, Frome were quickly out of the blocks and could so easily have gone ahead in the first minute as Twain Plummer charged through the defence. Mike Green challenged, the ball fell to Mike Perrott who squared it to Kyle Tooze but his shot cleared the open goal from just outside the area. The 6th minute saw Cirencester go close as a diving header from Jamie Cheeseman just cleared his own bar, and Darren Chitty saved well from David Murphy from the resulting corner. Frome always looked dangerous and the 17th minute saw Ben Thomson burst through the middle, but instead of shooting he opted to pass to Plummer who was well offside. The 25th minute saw Plummer use his strength to win the ball, spread it wide to Perrott on the right, and a neat pass played in Tooze who blazed the shot high and wide. Three minutes later, Perrott beat Tom Etheridge to the ball on the half way line, surged forward and a low drive from the edge of the area was spilt by Green, who managed to recover just before Plummer could get to the loose ball. Andy Gunn was booked for a scything tackle on Tooze as he raced forward in the 37th minute, and Thomson had another chance for Frome in the 42nd minute as he was played in by Perrott, but was stopped by a succession of challenges in the six yard box. Frome took a deserved lead in the first minute of the second half as Matt Smith leapt high and headed home a Thomson corner from a range of 10 yards, and Josh Brigham very nearly repeated the feat in the 59th minute but this time his header from the corner hit the post, with Green only just gathering the ball before Cheeseman pounced. The 67th minute saw Andy Gunn sent off for receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Perrott, and against the ten man home team, Frome had further chances in the 76th minute as Thomson was played clean through but his shot was easily saved by Green, and in the 83rd minute when a long Brigham ball found Hulbert in space, but his shot went high and wide.
