Saturday January 14th  2012 Cirencester Home Saturday  14th January 2012 Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Frome Town 1 Cirencester 0 Frome Scorers: D.Evans (45) Cirencester Scorers: None Crowd: 226 Entertainment Value: 3 Star Man: Dean Evans Frome Town's long wait for a home victory finally came to an end with a 1-0 victory over Cirencester thanks to a goal on the stroke of  half time from captain  and star man Dean Evans For the second home match in a row, Frome were very slow to get into the game, and Cirencester effectively ran the game for the first twenty minutes.  Jon Else brought a low save from Darren Chitty after 4 minutes and only a last ditch Dean Flockton tackle in the 8th minute prevented Else from shooting after a good run had seen him get to the dead ball line. As the game progressed, the match evened out a little and Lloyd Matthews, Alex Lapham and Dean Evans started to make inroads into the visitor's defence, but all too often the move petered out with a final ball that lacked quality, however the 35th minute saw a move that ended with a Mike Perrott volley that crashed into the side netting, so Frome were getting closer. The goal arrived in bizarre fashion in the 45th minute as a Ben Thomson free kick was curled into the box, and as it fell to the ground it seemed to become trapped in a forest of Frome legs that moved slowly towards the goal line until eventually  Evans was able to poke the ball over the line from close range. The second half saw Frome much brighter for the first 15 minutes and a left wing move in the 47th minute involving Evans and Mike Reaney ended with both Thomson and then Evans having shooting chances that were charged down. Several other raids also brought half chances, but then Cirencester took over and the match was played for long periods in the Frome half, with Frome struggling to gain good possession and relying on the occasional counter attack to threaten the Cirencester goal. Josh Brigham just managed to clear the ball off the Frome goal line in the 80th minute and then Evans set up Hulbert for a shot in the 83rd minute, but Kevin Sawyer was in exactly the right place to save easily and  then Evans brought a good save from Sawyer in the 86th minute, but no more goals came along and Frome were happy to take the three points in a hard fought, slightly dour  encounter. Dean Evans was deservedly awarded the man of the match award by representatives of John Scott Builders who had sponsored the match. .    Frome Town Cirencester Kevin Sawyer Aiden Bennett Jamie Dunn Andy Gunn Nathan Davies Zak Westlake Scott Claridge James Mortimer-Jones Ben Rearden Scott Griffin Jon Else Ellis Dunton Mitch Bryant Officials R: A Penwell A: M Bryant A: S Ruck Match Sponsor John Scott Builders Ball Sponsor AM Print & Copy Match Photos Photos of this match taken by our expert photographer Chas Hadfield can be viewed by clicking on this rectangle
