Saturday March 17th  2012 Hemel Hempstead Away Saturday 17th March 2012 Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Hemel Hempstead 3 Frome Town 1 Frome Scorers:  Smith (2) Hemel Scorers: May (41), (45+1), Sheriff (61) Star Man: None awarded Entertainment Value: 2 Frome Town produced a disappointing display at Hemel Hempstead, and after an early goal and a good first half hour, two quick goals just before half time led to a deserved 3-1 victory for the hosts. On a very wet pitch, Frome had a dream start as Ben Thomson and Ricky Hulbert combined to set up a shooting chance for Matt Smith and he curled the ball home perfectly from 25 yards. The 9th minute saw Ricky Hulbert  get on to the end of a Mike Perrott right wing cross, but his flicked header ended safely in hands of Mike McEntegart, and two minutes later Josh Brigham required lengthy treatment after a strong challenge. The 21st minute saw Frome awarded a fee kick on the edge of the box, but Perrott's free kick barely cleared the ground as it was driven into the defensive wall. The 28th minute saw Hemel's manager sent to the stands for saying something out to the referee, and a minute later a Frome appeal for a penalty was turned down as a defender climbed all over Hulbert, but the free kick was given the other way. Hemel's first real attack of the match came in the 30th minute and a header across goal by Rob Halworthy  hit the chest of Tom Evans allowing Darren Chitty to claim easily. During the first half hour, Frome had been in total control of the match but had failed to create any real chances, and Josh Brigham tested the home keeper in the 38th minute with a 25 yard shot that was well saved. However, Frome's domination started to wane justy before half time and in the 41st minute a corner allowed Matt McEntegart a free header at the far post but luckily the ball was directed straight at Darren Chitty. The pendulum continued to swing and immediately afterwards, full back Danny May was allowed far too much time in the Frome box and he fired high into the net for the equaliser. On the stroke of half time, things got worse for Frome and May scored his second of the match in the space of five minutes as he fired home a 25 yard free kick after a foul by Alex Lapham. The 50th minute saw Tom Evans pick up a yellow card for dissent, and as the whistle blew for half time, he was a little fortunate not to receive a second yellow as he continued the tirade as the players walked off. Frome never really got going in the second half and the 55th minute saw Chitty save the day as he just managed to tip a Nabil Sheriff header over the bar after the winger had been set up by a header from Rob Halworthy. The 61st minute saw Hemel seal the match with another set piece following a foul by Tom Evans, this time the ball was headed against the cross bar and as it fell, Sheriff reacted the quickest and poked the ball home from close range. Frome never really troubled the home defence for the remainder of the game and Hemel could have made it 4-1 in the 85th minute as Sheriff found himself in masses of space but shot wide.   Frome Town Barwell Mike McEntegart Danny May James Brighton Bill Moran Matt McEntegart Dave Deaney Nabil Sheriff Robbie Burns Nick Beasant Rob Halworthy Dave Pearce Charlie Gordon Ross Lafayette Brad Harrison Kieron Schmidt Officials R: xxxx A: xxxx A: xxxx Match Photos Photos of this match taken by our expert photographer Chas Hadfield can be viewed by clicking on this rectangle Match Sponsor xxxx Ball Sponsor xxxxxx
