New striker Lloyd Matthews also started after completing a deal from Yeovil Town and Josh Brigham and Tom Evans missed out on the match through suspension. Frome started brightly and almost got off to a dream start as Matthews beat three players and sent a 30 yard effort wide in the 2nd minute, and 20 minutes later Tooze was taken apparently taken down in the penalty area, but nothing was given by the referee. A great through ball from the half way line by Peters allowed Matthews a shooting chance from the edge of the area, and then in the 27th minute, Dean Evans crossed from the right wing to the near post, but Matthews shot was deflected wide. Controversy erupted in the 32nd minute as Tooze did very well to win the ball on the wing, but in the ensuing tussle he was knocked to the ground leaving him shaken and with a bleeding nose. Thatcham midfielder Scott Rees was shown the red card for the incident, but the travelling fans seem convinced that it was Mark Hughes who actually carried out the crime. Thatcham’s Mark James and Tooze himself were also cautioned for their part in the incident. Seven minutes later, Tooze was involved in another incident and was promptly substituted with Ben Thomson coming on to replace him. The fortieth minute saw Thatcham go close as Hughes headed a Mark James free kick towards goal, with Darren Chitty doing well to just push the ball round for a corner. Frome then had two further chances on the stroke of half time, as first Peters got his header on target from an Alex Lapham free kick, and then Matthews headed a Luke Ballinger cross goalwards, but in both cases Paul Strudley was able to make the save. Frome started the second half the stronger of the two sides and the pressure told in the 59th minute as a Thomson left wing cross was met by Matthews, but as the ball ran out to Ballinger he let fly with a half volley from the edge of the area that screamed into the net. Thatcham went close in the 68th minute as Tom Etheridge was goven too much space but his effort was deflected wide with Chitty well beaten by the deflection on the ball, however they did equalise two minutes later as James Clark picked up on a mistake and curled a superb shot into the top corner from the edge of the box. Frome made a double substitution in the 75th minute, but then Thatcham took the lead as Sam Flegg nodded home easily from 8 yards out, and Frome then went all out for the equaliser. Evans was chopped down on the edge of the Thatcham area, but Thomson’s free kick was driven into the defensive wall, then Matt Smith produced a defence splitting pass that Evans managed to pull back from the dead ball line, but a combination of keeper and defender just managed to keep the ball out. As the 90th minute, Chitty came up for the last corner of the match and a magic chance then went begging as Ricky Hulbert headed over the bar from close range, the whistle went and Frome had been knocked out of the second cup by Thatcham Town this season. .    Frome Town Thatcham Paul Strudley Mark Hughes Sam Flegg Mark James Matt Bowler Tom Melledew Sam Tucker Scott Rees Mark Green Carl Self Tom Etheridge Gareth Thomas James Clark SEan Cook Tom Brown Jemel Johnson Officials R: A Bird A: J Bird A: K Bailey Match Sponsor xxxxxx Ball Sponsor xxxxxxx
