Saturday December 1st 2012 Bedworth Away   Saturday 1st December 2012 Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Bedworth 1 Frome Town 0 Frome Scorers: None Bedworth Scorers: Polk (69) Crowd: 130 Star Man: Mike Perrott Entertainment Value: 3 Once again Frome were left to rue missed chances in a match, and after dominating proceedings during the first half, they were hit by a classic sucker punch as a 69th minute Ben Polk goal gave the home side an unlikely 1-0 victory. The first half started as one way traffic, and Frome could have taken the lead in the 1st minute as a crossfield ball from Mike Perrott found Ben Wood, but he dragged his shot wide at the near post. On the quarter hour, Perrott and Wood again combined to set up a shooting chance for Dean Evans, only for the shot to be saved by the legs of Andrew Kemp in the home goal. Lewis Powell looked to have broken the deadlock soon after, but Nathan Haines was just able to clear off the line, and then Perrott rose to a Wood cross but failed to connect cleanly and the header went wide of the post. Frome were well on top in the first half hour and were playing some excellent football on a bumpy pitch, and they really should have made that domination tell in the 31st as Powell clipped in a cross over the goal keeper only for Perrott to head wide of an open goal from five yards out as he got his timing all wrong. Bedworth had a rare chance a minute later but a weak shot from Andrew Gooding made it easy for Darren Chitty to save, and five minutes before half time, Dave Gilroy was put through, Kemp made a fine save, the ball found its way to Dave Thompson who crossed for Gilroy, but the header was misjudged, the ball was cleared and that was the last chance of the match. The start of the second half was more of the same, with Evans hooking over the bar when well placed in the 53rd, and Perrott again being denied by Kemp nine minutes later as he beat the fierce shot away. Was it going to be one of those days? It was, and up popped Ben Polk in the 69th minute with a composed finish from a right wing cross to give the home side an unlikely lead, and this seemed to knock the stuffing out of the Frome side and Bedworth then looked more composed and defended their lead with relative ease until the final whistle. The “H&B Tyres Man of the Match” award was awarded to Mike Perrott  for a lot of good work and movement making things happen in the Frome attack.     Frome Town Bridgwater Officials J Steel N Stobbs A Bent Match Photos Photos of this match taken by our expert photographer Chas Hadfield can be viewed by clicking on this rectangle Match Sponsor xxxx Ball Sponsor xxxxx Andrew Kemp Nathan Haines Richard Wesley Andrew Gooding Loyisi Recci Ricki Baines Kieron Brehon Ashley Spencer Aaron Donaldson Mitchell Piggon Ben Polk Andrew Spencer Alexander Dean Rico Taylor Darius Darkin David Blenkinsopp
