With Gosport the league’s draw specialists with nine draws prior to this match and Frome not far behind with six draws, the draw was always going to be a good bet, though the Gosport foward line has been more prolific this season, having scored 40 goals to Frome’s 24. Information on the match is sparse, but the defences were on top for most of the first half, with the best chance of the match happening late on in the first half as a Matt Smith shot was fumbled by the home keeper and Dave Gilroy poked the ball wide from close range. Gilroy was also put through on goal just before half time, but his shot was straight at the home keeper and a break by Gosport resulted in a similar spurned opportunity at the other end. The second half saw Darren Chitty produce an excellent save in the 66th to deny Gosport a goal from a flicked header at a corner, and then the home keeper produced a fine save to deny Mike Perrott after being set up by Matt Smith. So, a solid defensive performance by Frome and another point on the road to Premier League safety.    The  “H&B Tyres Man of the Match” award was awarded to Matt Smith  for yet another fine display in the heart of midfield.
