Saturday November 3rd 2012 Hemel Hempstead Home   Saturday 3rd November 2012 Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Frome Town 1  Hemel Hempstead 3 Frome Scorers:  Gilroy  (29) Hemel Hempstead Scorers: O’Leary (35p), Pearse (45), Nolan (93) Crowd: 155 Star Man: Ollie Chenoweth Entertainment Value: 4 Two goals right at the end of each half gave League leaders Hemel Hempstead a 3-1 victory over Frome Town, and despite Frome matching the leaders for long periods, they were grateful to loan signing goalkeeper Ollie Chenoweth for keeping the score down with a string of fine saves. It didn’t take long for Frome’s debutant keeper  to show his class, as a second minute right wing cross from Charlie Mpi was headed down by Dave Pearce and only a first class save from Chenoweth just managed to tip the ball round the post. As the match settled, Frome were matching the league leaders in most departments, but Chenowith again had to make an outstanding save in the 15th minute as a low Hemel cross deflected wickedly off of Mike Reaney, and only a flying save managed to push the ball round the post.   Frome continued looked good with probing attacks, but the visitors always looked very sharp on the counter, and in the 23rd minute, Matt Nolan once more brought a superb save from Chenoweth, though the Frome defence were complaining bitterly that he had push Tom Evans over before shooting. Frome’s endeavour paid dividends in the 29th minute as Dave Gilroy cleverly rolled off his marker to run onto a Ben Wood lobbed pass before coolly slotting the ball past Mark Osborn for a well taken goal and a 1-0 lead, however the lead was only to last for six minutes, and Hemel controversially equalised in the 35th minute from the penalty spot as Matt Nolan went to ground with the home side (and all the home fans) vociferously claiming that no foul had taken place. The referee was not going to change his mind, though, and Steve O’Leary scored from the spot, with Chenoweth getting very close to ball. Lewis Powell very nearly scored a spectacular goal after 40 minutes as he spotted Osborn off his line, but his lob from fully 45 yards just cleared the bar. A good run and cross by Ben Wood allowed Mike Perrott to volley the ball straight at Osborn from just inside the penalty area, but just as it looked like Frome might just take a lead into the interval, Hemel took the lead right on the stroke of half time as the impressive Victor Osobu carved into the Frome area before pulling the ball back for Dave Pearce to score from twelve yards. Hemel started the second half well, with Mpi heading just over the bar after two minutes, and a long range screamer from Pearce thudding into the chest of Chenowth, but then Frome very nearly equalised as Perrott did well on the right to pull the ball back for Powell who slid in and only just failed to put the ball inside the near post. Frome continued to make a game of it for the entire second half, and Dave Thompson saw a couple of headers fly just past the post, but Hemel always looked that bit sharper and more likely to score, and Chenoweth brought off two great saves in quick succession to deny first Mason and then Pearce from the resulting corner. Hemel’s third goal arrived in the third minute of injury time, and as almost the entire Frome team moved up looking for an equaliser at a free kick, the ball broke to Osubu who crowned a fine game with a run and pass that gave the unmarked Nolan arelatively easy task to shoot home past the impressive Chenoweth.   The “H&B Tyres Man of the Match” award was awarded to outstanding goalkeeper Ollie Chenoweth  by Moore Stephens Ltd  who had sponsored the match.     Frome Town Hemel Hempstead Officials M Greenwood M Curtis R Lawrence Match Photos Photos of this match taken by our expert photographer Chas Hadfield can be viewed by clicking on this rectangle Match Sponsor Moore Stephens Ball Sponsor Andrew St John Mark Osborn Danny May Ryan Parsons David King Jack Nelly Jordan Parkes Charlie Mpi Steve O’Leary Dave Pearce Matt Nolan Victor Osubu Dan Talbot Alex Campana Joe Bruce Tom Opoku Sam Beagle
