After Saturday’s contentious sending off of Mike Perrott, there was perhaps a danger that this would turn into a grudge match, but as it turned out, the match was an excellent one to watch, with Frome playing some of their best football of the season on a perfect pitch, and only the occasional late challenge threatening to upset the spectacle. Frome came out of the blocks very quickly, and after a penalty shout was turned down as Lewis Powell was floored in the Larkhall penalty area, Frome took the lead in the 5th minute as a perfect through ball from Perrott gave Powell acres of space and he coolly shot across Chris Snoddy from a tight angle into the far corner for an excellent opening goal. Perrott was hit be a late challenge in the 6th minute by Andy Gilbert which provoked a stern lecture from the referee, but as the match progressed, Frome started to really dominate both possession and territory. Adam Tyres was perhaps lucky only to get a yellow as he pulled back the ever dangerous Powell on the edge if the area, and then Ben Wood tested Snoddy as he cut into the area and let fly with a right foot shot. The 24th minute saw a great Frome move as Perrott set Alex Lapham free on the right and his perfect low cross was back heeled just wide of the post by Dean Evans, however the second goal arrived eight minutes later as a long Tom Evans throw from the right was headed on by Perrott and Wood arrived behind him, stooping low to head the ball into the corner of the goal from 12 yards out. The two minutes before half time almost saw Frome double their lead. In the 44th minute a powerful Dave Thompson header from a corner was going in until it hit Frome striker Powell on the goal line and the ball deflected out of play, and then a minute later, a glanced Perrott header struck the base of the Larkhall post and rebounded straight into the arms of the grateful Snoddy. As the second half started, Frome made it 3-0 after 32 seconds of play. Perrott did well on the right to play the ball out to Matt Smith, and his perfect cross found the head of the unmarked Powell who scored with ease into the corner from 12 yards out. After this, Frome were genrally carving out chances at will, and the 48th minute saw Dean Evans miss from close range as Powell headed the ball down to him and two minutes later, Tom Evans won  a clean header from a right wing corner that skimmed the top of the crossbar. Jamie Lyons did really well to manufacture a left wing cross that Dean Evans headed over from 10 yards out, and the forth so nearly arrived in the 65th minute as Powell beat the offside trap, Snoddy saved well at his feet, but he recovered and played the ball to Dean Evans whose shot was gain saved by Snoddy, with Lyons just failing to get to the rebound. Mike Perrott capped probably his best game for Frome this season with a goal in the 72nd minute as an excellent crossfield ball found him in space on the right. He controlled it, then twisted and turned inside before firing a low shot through Snoddy from 12 yards out, for a goal that provoked great celebrations. With the game now done and dusted, Frome had another chance in the 83rd minute as Powell set Perrott free, but his shot ran across the face of the Larkhall goal, but on the whole, the end of the match was fairly quiet, with Larkhall letting fly with the occasional long range effort. So, all in all, an excellent performance from Frome, with Smith, Lapham, Wood and Perrott running the midfield and Evans and Powell causing havoc up front with quick, intelligent movement, it shows how good this Frome side can be when everyone is fit and they play the ball around on the floor. The “H&B Tyres Man of the Match” as chosen by ball sponsors AM Print and Copy (who  produce the match programme for Frome and many other clubs) was Lewis Powell, who was presented with the bottle of bubbly by Andy and Roxy Meaden.     Frome Town Larkhall Officials L Sheridan M Veater K Williams Match Photos Photos of this match taken by our expert photographer Chas Hadfield can be viewed by clicking on this rectangle Match Sponsor xxx Ball Sponsor AM Print and Copy Chris Snoddy Jason Burt Luke Scott Gary Thorne Adam Tyres Thomas Welch Andy Gilbert Matt Ralph James Lye Ben Horan Joe Stradling Gary Banks Benji Thomas David Grey Louis Ross Pete Hussey (GK)
