The opening exchanges saw Leamington using pace on the left and moving the ball around well, but Frome looked comfortable under the early pressure and had the first chance of the match in the 12th minute as a header from a free kick went just wide. As Leamington started to turn the screw, Frome started to struggle retaining possession, and were perhaps fortunate in the 27th minute as a Leamington penalty appeal was ignored by the referee, and with much of the half seeing Frome kicking the ball long and Leamington trying to pass their way to a perfect goal, the pattern was set and and at half time, the 0-0 scoreline was perhaps a little fortunate for the home side. The second half saw Frome again defending in depth and Darren Chitty was called into action in the 53rd minute as a deep corner was headed down and goalwards, his block allowing a defnder to clear the ball. The 70th minute saw Tom Evans receive his second yellow card within the the space of a few minutes , and immediately from the re-start, Leamington took the lead as Richard Batchelor did superbly to pull the ball back from the dead ball line into the perfect space right in front of goal, and Tom Berwick couldn’t miss, heading in from almost on the goal line. Leamington’s Liam Daly was close to adding to the lead when his free kick whistled over the bar, before Lewis Powell managed to get the better of Jamie Hood as they chased the ball back towards the Leamington goal. He squeezed a shot past Kevin Sawyer but the ball rolled in front of goal and with no attacking player to follow it up it was cleared away. The killer second goal arrived 9 minutes from time and was the result of a swift break away. Slick passing across the edge of the Frome penalty area saw Dodd and Chilton work the ball into the path of James Mace, who barely had to break stride as he swept the ball low inside the near post. During the remaining minutes,  Leamington probably looked the team more likely  to score, and  Chilton’s half volley across goal dropped just past the upright, and Joe Magunda headed over the bar. The “H&B Tyres Man of the Match” as chosen by match sponsors Clive Lewis was Mike Perrott, who was presented with the bottle of bubbly by Ivan Carver.   Frome Town Leamington Officials Iain Parsons Paul Day Roger Smith Match Photos Photos of this match taken by our expert photographer Chas Hadfield can be viewed by clicking on this rectangle Match Sponsor Clive Lewis Ball Sponsor Compugraphics Kevin Sawyer James Mace James Husband Joe Magunda Jamie Hood Liam Daly Matt Dodd Lee Chilton Tom Berwick Craig Owen Richard Batchelor Michael Tuohy Liam O’Neill Michael Quirke Alex Taylor Sam Adkins
