Bideford took an early lead as a right wing cross was knocked down and Craig Veal was left with the simple chance of firing his side ahead. Frome were the better footballing side and took the game to their hosts with some slick passing and attacking moves but unfortunately there was no end product to give any clear cut chances. Just like against Arlesey a few days earlier the Robins were outraged at the referee's decision not to award them a penalty on 22 minutes.  A throw in on the right found Mark Francis in the area who was chopped down only for the match official to ask the Robins to take the throw in again due to an injury to the hosts skipper Craig McGrath. Frome were still reeling from the decision when moments later Bideford extended their lead as they broke quickly and while Darren Chitty got down to save well from an effort from the edge of the area Matthew Groves was on hand to put in the rebound into the empty net. On 35 minutes Frome really should have pulled a goal back as Francis capitalised well on a defensive mistake to find himself clean through on goal but his lob over the advancing Lloyd Irish in the Bideford goal went wide of the empty target. The Robins then had another strong appeal for a penalty turned down as Ben Thomson's pace took him clear and was brought down by Irish but the match official again waived away the protests. Dylan Bonella saw a long range drive held well by Irish before the hosts should have added a third before the half time break as a cross from the right found the unmarked Veal but his effort cleared the cross bar. Frome had played well during the first half but mistakes had cost them dear again as in previous games but there was a sense that an early goal could turn things around in the second half. With the Robins still trying to play the better football of the two sides there was still no real test of the home 'keeper and Adrian Foster made a change brining on Tom Golledge for Mark Francis on 65 minutes. Moments later Bideford almost capitalised on another defensive unforced error as an under hit back pass fortunately saw Chitty at this best to save with his feet. With ten minutes to go and Frome still trying to find away past the home defence they were always susceptible to conceding again on the break and Sean Downing cut in from the left before planting an effort past Chitty to the far post to seal the win for the Devon side. Foster made a double change bringing on Jack Twyford and Brandon Mundy for Ben Thomson and Matt Smith but Bideford would have the final say as Downing notched his second of the game with a long range effort. As well as the heavy defeat the Robins also picked up five yellow cards throughout the game as frustration set in.  With the league action taking a break today it gives the Robins a chance to put things right & to start putting a run together.
