Frome were able to field a full strength squad and with Boreham Wood currently sitting in second place of the Conference South, only an excellent performance from the home team would produce a result. The match started with slick passing moves from both sides and Frome were first to go close as a left footed shot from Ben Thomson was pushed round the post by James Russell for a corner, but they then had a big let-off in the 7th as Borehm’s Junior Morias found himself clean through on goal, and as he shot over Darren Chitty, the ball hit the cross bar and rebounded harmlessly into play. A perfect Kris Miller right wing cross found the head of Thomson in the 10th, but the striker was just leaning slightly backwards and the ball ended up passing a foot wide of the far post, but then Thomson was on hand for the opener three minutes later as he scored with a low 12 yard shot after good work on the left by Mark Cooper and Aaron Rodriguez. Boreham eqalised in the 19th as  a  routine move was finished off superbly as Graeme Montgomerie produced a perfect top spin lob from outside the penalty area that looped over Darren Chitty and into the net. As the half progressed, Frome looked the more likely to score and pressure in the 21st led to a Jack Vallis shot being just blocked, and a few minutes later Mark Francis set up a header for Rhys Baggridge that brought a save from Russell. An excellent flowing move in the 29th brought another save from Russell as a Ricky Hulbert cross found the head of Matt Smith, but as the rain fell, it seemed as if the scores would remain level until, on the stroke of half time, Frome made it 2-1 as a 30 yarder from Jon Vance was tipped onto the bar by James Russell, but the ball went straight up and came straight down on the goal line allowing Mark Francis an easy tap in. Boreham Wood  looked much more focused at the start of the second half and they levelled the score in the 50th as a loose  defensive header allowed Morias a run on goal and this time  he unerringly planted the ball past Chitty. Frome’s Rodriguez has a half chance in the 53rd as he was found in space by Hulbert, but, in general, Boreham were now running the game and Chitty made a great save in the 60th to tip over a shot from Matt Whichelow that was destined for the top corner. Frome now found themselves defending almost continuously and the 86th saw a superb one handed save from Chitty as Lee Angel latched onto a quickly taken corner, and when Rhys Baggridge was forced to make a despairing tackle in the 90th, a second yellow led to his dismissal  and to Frome having to play five minutes of injury time with only ten men, but they managed it with ease and went very close to winning it at the end  as  a great Matt Smith run and pass just failed to find Thomson at the far post.   Kris Miller  was chosen for the “H&B Tyres Man of the Match Award”  by Red Devil Surfacing Ltd who had sponsored the match.   Prog Sponsor George Ben and Sam
