Frome were on top in the opening ten minutes and the first chance arrived in the 13th as a Kris Miller cross was knocked down to Thompson with only a despairing leg deflecting his shot over the bar. The first chance for the hosts arrived in the 20th minute as Mike Turvey pulled the ball back for Jamie Baron but he got well underneath the ball and skied it over the bar, then Frome almost opened the scoring as a Thomson run produced a deflected shot with the unmarked Mark Francis pleading for the ball to be played to him. The deadlock was broken in the 28th as Darren Chitty picked up a yellow for fouling a home striker as he attempted to retrieve the ball after a poor clearance, the referee pointed to the spot and Ryan Long hit the penalty straight down the middle for the opening goal.  Frome levelled the score in the 38th as Miller set Ricky Hulbert away on the right and a perfect right wing cross was headed powerfully home by Thomson, and they nearly took the lead five minutes later as Jack Vallis rose to head down a free kick, Francis produced a stinging shot but was denied only by a superb save from Ryan Gosney which tipped the ball over the bar. The second half failed to produce any excitement to match the first and chances were few and far between, with perhaps the best chance arriving in injury time as Gosney palmed away a stinging Thomson drive, leaving both sides in the draw for the next round.
