frometownfc.co.uk Official Website of ‘The Robins’ Website Sponsor New Era Frome’s first season in the Southern League started brightly in the summer of 2009 but results and performances soon deteriorated and Crabtree was dismissed just six games into the season and was replaced by experienced manager in former Melksham Town, Paulton Rovers and Chippenham Town boss Darren Perrin.   Perrin sought about changing every aspect of the playing side of the Club to turn it into a Southern League set-up and the hard work paid off as he guided Frome away from the relegation zone and in an excellent first campaign the team narrowly missed out on gaining a play-off place. In January of 2010 Perrin was handed an eighteen month contract as the Committee looked to provide long term stability to the Robins. The other huge change came off the field also came in January when the Club’s Committee decided it was time for a change at the top and Chairman Gavin Hares was replaced with local businessman Jeremy Alderman to lead a smaller committee with the aim to have more of a focus on a business footing. The summer of 2010 also saw Mark Salter leave the Club after breaking three records with 450 appearances and 293 goals to his name.  He had spent all but one season at Frome since his debut back in 1999 where he had made a transfer into the football league with Southend United and after his release he made a handful of appearances with Bath City before his return to Frome Town for a record transfer fee of £1,000. There became more of a focus on developing a Community Club during the build-up to the 2010/11 season as a new youth section was created giving the Club teams from Under 6’s through to the senior adult side and stronger links with Frome Town Ladies and Sunday league side Team Frome.
