The Robins experimented with a different formation for the game but the players settled into the new roles comfortably. The home team edged a tight first half in which both teams competed very evenly and the Robins working hard to keep control of the ball as much as possible. Hugo and Robbie worked well together at the core of defence with Will linking well across the middle with Cameron, Jack and Torin. For all the pressure there were not too many chances with Fin working hard up front and Cameron got his reward for some strong attacking with a goal just before half time. Joe came out of goal for the second half and put in a great all round display picking up a second goal for the Robins. Torin also got on the score sheet with two goals and Fin got an assist from a deflected shot at the end to complete the scoring. The Bath City players continued to take the game to Frome throughout but the Robins played some really good football and combined well for a great team performance.Trowbridge Wanderers vs Frome Town Reds U10The U10s Reds visited Trowbridge Wanderers and played out a really close and competitive match. Both sides started tentatively but soon grew into the game with the defence of Robbie and Joe working well together and feeding the wide players well. George had a superb game in goal, saving well on a number of occasions in the first half. The one time he was beaten Joe was back to head off the line. Under 10’s Round-upSaturday 11th October 2014The U10s had two games over the weekend with an away match at Devizes Town and home to Warminster Reds. Both teams provided stern opposition but Frome battled throughout and never let their heads drop. The Reds team were fortunate to have Joe in inspired form in goal during the first half with Fred, Zak and Solly defending extremely well. Max was making his debut for the team and was terrific linking the defence and attack with strong tackling and running. Will and Fin linked up well in attack and Will picked up a goal following sustained pressure on the Devizes goal. The team played extremely well and contributed to an entertaining game. The Robins team played Warminster at home in misty conditions and, although struggling to contain the incisive passing and movement of the visitors, put in a good team effort full of determination and effort. George and Joseph each had great halves in goal. With a full squad to pick from there were a lot of changes to be made - the defence made up of Robbie, Hugo, Jack, Riley and Torin never shirked a challenge and linked up well with Will, Joe, Cameron and Fin who provided the attacking threat. The team were rewarded for their hard work with a goal from Will midway through the first half. Well done to both teams for a high quality match.Under 10’s Round-upSaturday 27th September 2014The Frome Town U10s Reds entertained a very strong and skillful Trowbridge Wanderers team at Oakfield. Trowbridge started the game well and played a high intensity pressing game that was hard to contain. The Reds defended very well and worked hard for each other and always continued to try and play passing football. Harry, Kieran and Josh provided an attacking threat with their pace and power and Jamie linked up defence and attack well with great composure and passing. The defence was made up of Harvey, Solly, Zak and Fred and worked tirelessly all match. No goals for the Reds but a performance full of hard work and commitment. The U10s Robins visited Melksham for the return match against the Tornadoes in perfect sunny conditions. The match was very tight with both teams having attempts on goal but a mixture of strong defending and excellent goalkeeping from both sides limited the chances. Joseph and Hugo provided strong central defensive cover but George was always on hand to stop any attacks that got through on goal. The Robins passing game grew stronger as the game progressed and Cameron, Riley and Torin were able to launch attacks from both wings which started to create opportunities. Will had a good game controlling play from midfield and Fin, as always, provided a constant threat up front and working hard to support midfield when under pressure. Goals for Will and Cameron capped a solid team performance.
