Frome Town U12s 6-3 Warminster Highbury U12s
Saturday 11h October
The U12 Robins travelled to a foggy Horningsham and played out an enjoyable high scoring game.
From kick off, Frome played some great passing football but were well defended by Warminster. It was great link up
play with Lewis, Charlie and Oliver that created the first 3 un-answered hatrick of goals by Joe Porter. The defence of
Dunford, Rose and Ware kept them at bay but Warminster got a great goal before the half time which justified their
fighting spirit. Second half Frome let Warminster back into game and they scored their second after a great initial save
from Alfie in goal. Joe scored his fourth and fifth goals with some more clinical finishing but still Warminster kept
playing and scored their 3rd. At 5-3 Alf came out of goal and immediately scored from a powerful shot to seal the
victory. Joe Porter deservedly got MOM for a clinical performance.
Corsham Town U12s 4-5 Frome Town U12s
Saturday 20th September
Frome came out on top in thrilling away game. Defensive errors and poor passing saw Frome go behind 3-0
after just 15 minutes.
But 2 goals from Joe and 1 from Oliver and a last ditch save from Joseph just before half time ensured the scores
were level at the break. However the second half started the same as the first, Fromes defence fell asleep from a
corner allowing Corsham to head in from close range. This however kicked Frome into action and they began to push
and exploit gaps in the Corsham defence. Jack played a pin point through ball in to Joe who scored his third of the
game and Jack nearly scored himself only to see his shot beat the keeper but hit the base of the post. Frome finally
took the lead a well defended corner fell to the feet of Adam who curled the ball into the bottom corner from outside
the area. Frome could have scored more with Jack, Joe, Ben and James all hitting the woodwork. However the ever
present danger of Corsham was all to apparent and Frome had to thank resilient defending from Oliver, Biff, Alf and
Nick and two good saves from Joseph to ensure victory.
Frome Town U12s 5-1 Mere Town U12s
Saturday 13th September
Frome put on a fine display of passing to beat their opponents in the league opener.
Mere started brightly and put on early pressure with Fromes defence holding out resolutely. It was Frome who broke
the deadlock when Alfie put a fine pass through to Joe to score. From there Frome piled on the pressure and were
soon two goals up, more great passing from Frome’s midfield finally found Joe whose shot was well save but the
rebound hit Oliver and the ball rolled over the line. Frome continued to pressure with Oliver putting his shot wide after
being one on one with the keeper and then curling a shot just over the bar after winning possession. Mere then started
putting pressure on and were rewarded with a well taken close range strike.
Frome would end the half 4-1 ahead after Joe picked up the ball on half way and weaved his way through the defense
to slot home at the near post. Joe would then put through debutant Jack who cut inside his defender and rifled home.
The second half was an equal affair with both teams going close. Frome’s Alfie, Jack, Oliver and Charlie all had shots
saved while Joe hit the post with an audacious overhead kick. Fromes final goal saw Ben put in a wonderful pass to
Oliver who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.
