Bromham 3-0 Frome Town U16
Sunday 28th September 2014
Frome lost but learned as they were defeated by an excellent Bromham side.
Playing almost striker less in the first half Frome competed well, having plenty of the ball aided by their virtual six man
midfield and spurned several guilt edged chances. Frome however were made to rue their profligacy as Bromham
scored toward the end of the first half leaving the score 1-0 at HT.
In the second half Frome showed signs of getting to grips with the new regime's desired playing style as time and
again central defenders and deep lying midfielders took the ball short off the keeper and tried to form triangles in their
defensive third to initiate play on restarts as they attempted to build up their game through the thirds. Frome however
lost shape and showed an alarming frailty in central midfield on the counter attack as an apparent lack of natural
central midfielders left the defence exposed on transitions with midfielders too high up the park too often leading to the
concession of a further two goals. Frome gave 100% however and made a lot of effort to attempt to implement the style
of play requested by management. All in all it was a useful exercise against a talented host team.
Frome Town U16s 2-5 Worton & Cheverell U16
Sunday 21st September 2014
Frome came back down to earth with a bump after an exciting opening day victory in this entertaining match
which unfortunately ended in defeat.
After falling behind to a corner Loui equalized for Frome after rounding the keeper leaving the score 1-1 at HT.
The goals flew in, in the second half, as Frome changed their short passing style out from the back to a more direct
style especially from goal kicks as players became rattled by the Worton pressing game. However Frome could not
stem the tide and although Todd equalized after Worton went 2-1 up Frome were then picked off as Worton won first
and second balls regularly as well as passing the ball sweetly themselves through each third. Frome gave everything
however and considering they begun the season under new management it has been a decent start to the season.
Frome Town U16s 3-2 Steeple Ashton U16s
Sunday 14th September 2014
Frome Town U16s won against Steeple Ashton 3-2 with all the goals coming in the first half.
Frome started the match well passing the ball accurately but they were caught out on the break as SteepleAshton took
the lead with smart finish low to the right of keeper Keinan. Undeterred Frome responded with a quick equalizer from
captain Loui. Frome constantly threatened in behind the Steeple Ashton defence through the pace and invention of left
side striker Jack and false 9 Loui. With Morgan’s creative promptings from the attacking midfield position Frome built
up a 3-1 lead as Jack and then Loui scored further goals. However their admirable determination to play the ball out
from the back resulted in the concession of a second goal after a high quality press from Steeple Ashton on a Frome
goal kick leaving the score 3-2 at HT.
The second half saw Steeple Ashton hit the bar and post three times with Fromes goalkeeper Keinan making many
outstanding save to keep Frome in the game and hold on for the win.
