Girls - Under 13’s

Frome Town 5 Chippenham Town 1 Sunday 23rd March 2014 Frome town Ladies under 13s played their latest league game at home against Chippenham Town. Frome made a few positional changes due to injures with Sammie moving into the middle of the park and she was soon pulling the strings making telling passes through to Katie and Martha up front. From one such pass she found Katie to score her first. After good work from Jazz who found Martha who beat 3 players before a pin point pass to Katie to score. Frome didn't have it all their own way and had to work hard with Chippenham closing quickly every time a red shirt was on the ball. Frome were soon 3 up after good work from Enna and Issy down the right who slid Katie in for her third of the game. With minutes to go before half time Chippenham scored after a bad bounce caught Georgia out in the home goal. Frome kicked off the second half and were soon on the attack after good work from Enna who found Issy who in turned found Katie in space to tuck in her & Fromes 4th. Any chance the visitors had were dealt with by Betts jazz & Enna who worked hard in the Fromes defence and in turn found Maya and Issy down the flanks who both work non stop whenever they had the opportunity. With minutes to go Mia replaced a very tired Martha who had worked non stop all game without any luck in front of goal. Fromes last goal was scored after another well worked move with Katie cutting in from the right to curl into the bottom corner for her  and Fromes 5th . A very enjoyable game from both sides. With Martha just being piped for mom by Katie Swindon 4 Frome 0 Sunday 16th March 2014 Frome Town Ladies Under 13s latest league game was away to league leaders Swindon. The first 10 minutes was a tight affair with both teams  working hard to create chances . Swindon scored first after 20 minutes after a defence  splitting passing gave Georgia no chance. The second came minutes later. Swindon didn't have it all their own way with Katie & Sammie up front causing know end of problems for the home defence with no luck. Frome were caught 5 minutes before half time Swindon making it 3-0 Frome changed their shape with Mary dropping into the middle of the park with Aimee and this seemed to lift Frome. The game was from end to end with Fromes defence of Enna Betts & Jazz standing firm with everything thrown at them. With Maya marking the home star player out of the game.  Frome pushed hard with jazz making several storming runs down the left only for last ditch tackles stopping Frome from scoring. Katie down the right also worked tirelessly for no reward. With Minutes to go Frome were caught out of position with the home team scoring their fourth. I great team effort from all the girls for no reward. MOM: Mary U13’s take local derby win over Westbury Sunday 1st December 2013 Frome Town Ladies under 13s made the short trip to play Westbury Amazons in their latest league game. Frome started slowly and were 1 -0 down within 2 minutes after a good move from Westbury. This seemed to kick start Frome and Sammie playing her first game in the middle of the park started to play telling balls to Martha and Maya to attack the home team’s defence. From another great pass she found Katie to finish well into the corner of the net to make it 1-1 The game opened up with end to end play from both teams. Frome forced a corner and from a great cross  from Aimee Katie was there to finish to put the reds 2-1 up. Frome continued to press and from a poor clearance Katie picked up the ball and beat two defenders to score her well deserved third goal. Westbury weren't finished and with minutes to go before half time pulled one back to make it 3-2 at half time. Frome were under pressure from the start of the second. With Westbury able to bring on fresh legs to push hard at Frome. But whatever was thrown at the defence  Jazz Aimee & Betty were equal to it making tackle after tackle and save hands from Georgia kept the home team at bay. With minutes to go Frome broke with Aimee down the right who found Maya who beat the defender before chipping the keeper for a superb finish to make it 4-2  An excellent team performance by the girls who all worked extremely hard to pick up a well deserved 3 points. Player of the match Katie Under 13’s lose out to Melksham Town Sunday 17th November 2013 A tight start to the game with both defences having to work hard to keep either teams out but Melksham took the lead on 10 minutes after a good run by their right winger who scored past Georgia in the Frome goal. This seemed to lift the girls who started to pass the ball to Sammie and Maya to cause havoc down the flanks and with Martha up front causing many problems to the Melksham defence but good goal keeping kept her at bay. Frome were soon 2-0 down after a well worked corner giving the defence no chance but this seemed to spur Frome on with Aimee, Mary and Katie working hard pushing Melksham back with every chance they got. From a Melksham clearance Katie picked up the ball and chipped the keeper from 25 yards to bring Frome back into the game. The second half started as the first finished with Frome pushing hard to get the equaliser and from one such attack Enna found Katie on the right who turned and shot only to see the ball rebound of the cross bar. More waves of attacks continued only for the home keeper to stop Sammie and Martha with several good saves.  Melksham pushed forward as often as the could but stout defending from Betty Jazz and Mia kept them at bay until the dying minutes of the game a tiring Frome team conceded a third. The girls should be very proud of their effort and attitude in only their 2nd 9v9 game. Player of the match: Katie
