Ladies - First Team

Frome Town Ladies 6-1 Bridgwater Town Sunday 6th April 2014 Frome Ladies knew it would be a physical match but were determined to get some points from today’s game and their last home fixture of the season. Meeting early with the reserves to go to visit a tremendous residential home Rossetti House, to talk to the residents and say a big thank you for all their support this season set the day with a buzz in the atmosphere. Frome started strong and immediately applied pressure from strikers Yeo and Lines putting their keeper under pressure. Bridgwater being a tough side kept Fromes back four busy with Edwards making some crucial tackles. After much pressure from the midfield a shot from Bridgwater found the top corner of Fromes net. Frome immediately put the pressure back on Bridgwater when Lines was stopped on a one on one. Minutes later saw Evans through on goal and calmly blasted the ball past the Bridgwater keeper, level terms. Soon after a great ball from Rich saw Yeo get her first of the game. With Frome’s heads high and positive they could continue scoring a corner from Evans came back to her and she managed to squeeze the ball across into the top corner from a very tight angle. Just before half time Lines got a bad knock in the box on a one on one and was unable to continue, leaving Frome playing with 10. Frome knew the second half would be tough with 10 ladies against a physical 11. The midfield were faultless but Christer had to make some saves to keep Frome in front. Going forward again Frome were rewarded with a free kick 30 yards out, Dinham stepped up, who had had a fantastic game, and with pin point accuracy left the Bridgwater keeper no chance lacing it into the top corner, 4-1. Frome knowing they had to defend to keep the points, they way forward for Frome was attack on the break. Yeo was through again, with quick feet found the post then the back of the net. Frome were tiring but determined not to let Bridgwater through, who were making continuous changes to give them fresh legs, with a slight scuffle after a tackle, both teams needed to concentrate on the football. In the last minutes of the game Yeo found herself one on one with the keeper again, with a cheeky chip, she got her hatrick and finished of the scoring for the afternoon, 6-1. An excellent performance from the whole team, that stuck together and really pulled through as 10. Very very proud of you all.
